SURVEY and RECON 24 Wrap up

Last modified date

Thanks to everyone who supports HMGS-South and enjoyed Recon 2024.
We analyzed the survey and it helped inform the BoD about what went right and what went wrong. We heard loud and clear that room 600 is the wrong place to put a busy tournament. We had complaints about changing the time of the flea market, and also about moving people out of Oleander for the flea market. Sometimes it is very hard to balance demands from different people who want different things.

Most of the respondents liked having games at 2PM on Thursday. One issue is the vendors on Thursday need space to load in, and we are looking for answers like scheduling Oleander, or other spaces for 2PM Thursday games, and opening the main ballroom at 6PM as we did before.

The majority of you appreciated the range of vendor offerings. We are going to work on the paint area, because we think it has potential. Still if you want to help, by manning the paint area, or donating items, we would love to provide them to our painters.

We heard a few of you who had confusion about the front desk hours. We posted that in the program every year, but we will have signage to help. We got positive comments on the new Envelope system. Also any time you see a yellow shirted BoD member you can ask us and we can help you out anytime.

One of our goals as a board is to provide value for each member to come to the conventions, play their favorite tabletop games, and find a warm welcome. Speaking as President, I am humbled by members who pitch in to help make the show better, and help newer members. The tabletop miniatures hobby has had changes, and we seem to be at the forefront of it.

The BoD decided to commission a second survey, to help us answer the questions about flea market. Everything about the flea market is on the table. We also plan a second survey for vendors only.
